Summer holidays & hiking in Kastelruth in the Dolomites

Mountains in sight

Sometimes, it doesn't take much: heading outdoors, taking a deep breath and finding your balance again during a summer holiday in the Dolomites. Hiking around Kastelruth, enjoying wide-open views, finding a peaceful spot among the trees. And finally having time again for the things everyday life often leaves behind. Nothing extraordinary. Which is exactly why it feels so special.
Hiking in Kastelruth
Heidi’s Tips
"Some trails are worth travelling for. Others begin right here at SANVALENTIS. Head towards Ratzes, for example, or via Trotz to the Schererplatzl and St. Valentin. Looking for a little more elevation? Walk up to the Marinzen Alm and continue across the Puflatsch to the beautiful Seiser Alm and its famous Witches' Benches. Schlernbödele, Tuffalm and the Völser Weiher are just a few of the many wonderful destinations waiting to be discovered."

Cycling in Kastelruth
Peter’s Tips
"The cycle path to the Seiser Alm is practically on our doorstep – just 100 metres below SANVALENTIS. From there, you can cycle up to the Seiser Alm and continue towards Saltria to the Wild O' Williams mountain hut run by our son Fabian. Along the way, you'll enjoy magnificent views across the entire plateau and, as the name suggests, excellent game specialities. Allow around two hours for the ride. While you're there, it's also well worth stopping at our Hotel Goldknopf on the Seiser Alm. P.S. Looking to hire an e-bike? Sport Hans in Compatsch will even deliver your bike directly to SANVALENTIS for a small additional charge."
